Training Week in Springfield, MO

Ominous clouds over Joplin

We just got home from leading a Creation Training Week in Springfield, MO. Despite thunderstorms, tornado warnings, and high winds, the week went extremely well. Ten people participated in the training. We were much encouraged by their interest in creation teaching, the quality of their presentations, the depth of discussion, and the great times of fellowship.

We started doing intensive Creation Training Weeks back in 2006, to help individuals deepen their knowledge and skills in presenting the truth of the Genesis from both science and the Bible. The week involves times of prayer, worship, Bible study, and relevant science topics as well as practical teaching tips, a field trip, and opportunities to do practice teaching. We keep the groups small so there is plenty of time for discussion and personal interaction.

Getting to know a Hissing Cockroach

This year’s group included a businessman (who not only desires to teach creation but also sponsored the week – Thank You, Coby!), a missionary to Kenya, the Dean of Students and a science instructor from a Baptist college, the chairman of the science education department from a secular university, a pastor (who also serves as President for an on-line Bible college), the director of a small creation museum (with a big vision for expansion), two on-fire former students of ours from Jackson Hole Bible College, and a man from Uruguay who is helping with the Spanish translation of our Discover Creation DVD Series and Study Guide. Altogether, it was a diverse and highly qualified group.

We are excited about relationships built and the potential for future networking. Trainees from past Training Weeks have gone on to actively share the creation message through Sunday School classes, home groups, children’s programs, camps, blogs, etc. Others have become solid supporters of creation ministry and have been instrumental in scheduling creation seminars for AOI speakers.

Rainbow over Missouri

Our desire is to expand our Training Program to equip many more individuals and families to do creation ministry in their own churches, schools, communities, and wherever else God may lead them. Please pray for wisdom and provision of resources and people to flood this nation and the world with the powerful evidences and teaching that defend the Truth and Authority of God’s Word.
