Ice Storms and Travel

Posted on Feb 8, 2011 in Nuttings from the Front | 0 comments

With all of the travel we do for speaking, we are extremely grateful for safety on the road. Sometimes we are even more grateful. The other day we woke up to snow on the ground with blowing snow and ice freezing our car doors shut and road conditions which closed the schools. As much as we would have liked to huddle inside our host’s nicely warmed home and sip on hot tea, there loomed ahead a pressing need to brave the storm and travel to the next speaking location. The...

This Church Believes God’s Word!

Mary Jo and I just finished doing a seminar at Grace Bible Church in Sherman, TX. The pastor of this church teaches solidly on the Biblical record of Creation, and the people are eager to increase their understanding of scientific evidence that supports the Biblical view. We enjoyed the informed and enthusiastic response, especially from the young people who are being trained to defend their faith with boldness and confidence. It is so good to be in a church like this. I...

2010 Speaking Impacts Kids and Adults

Posted on Jan 28, 2011 in Nuttings from the Front | 0 comments

2010 was a busy, “ministry-packed” year with 187 separate speaking/teaching events in 17 states (AZ, CO, CT, IL, KS, MN, MO, MT, NE, NM, OR, SD, TX, UT, WA, WI, WY) as well as internationally in India and The Netherlands. Of these 187 events, over 20 were multiple-day events of 5 to 12 days (VBS’s, camps, and extended field trip classes). Speakers reported a total of 439 speaking days (not including travel and layover days). That’s a lot of speaking for our 3 main speaking...

Teaching Revelation in India

Posted on Dec 8, 2010 in Stepaneks from the Front | 0 comments

In preparation for another creation tour to India in Jan. and Feb. 2011, I am planning what new topics I will teach.  Not only are the Indians interested in Genesis and creation, I have discovered they are also fascinated with the book of Revelation and end times.  This became apparent while I was teaching from Genesis, there are many similarities between Revelation and Genesis, and they began asking many questions about Revelation.    Being limited on time, I quickly...

Master Plan Ministries

Posted on Dec 1, 2010 in Johnsons from the Front | 0 comments

Just recently, I was invited by the ministry of Master Plan of Mesa State College to a retreat with 33 college students at a beautiful mountain lodge in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. I was able to teach on several subjects (Age of the Earth, and the Hand of God) to a crowd of believers and non-believers of Biblical Creation. I was also able to share the Gospel message with the entire group. The teaching time was followed by a period of question and answers. I pray...

Scientific Objectivity?

Posted on Nov 23, 2010 in Nuttings from the Front | 0 comments

Recently I had a student tell me that studies published in peer-reviewed scientific journals have “all been verified and results have been duplicated.” I told him that wasn’t the case and in fact, impossible, if nothing else, simply because of the sheer volume of research. However, he was convinced that scientific research has been shown to be accurate in demonstrating the truth of evolution. It’s interesting how so many people blindly put their faith in “science” and...

No-ooooo-oooo-ooo!

I am amazed how much young children, even 6 or 7 years old, can grasp! A young girl listened intently as I began my sermon at her church. Without telling the congregation that I was role-playing and pretending to be an evolutionary teacher, I threw out a barrage of short “scientific facts,” supposedly supporting evolution. I also included some supposed contradictions in the Bible. With each one I asked, “How can you believe your Bible when we know ______. . . ?“  Some in...

Creation Teaching Makes a Difference

Posted on Nov 11, 2010 in Nuttings from the Front | 0 comments

In my last blog, I wrote about the college student who recently told us that because of our creation programs at the University of Minnesota one year ago, she was “released from the burden of evolution.” Another encouraging report from that speaking trip was from a high school girl. Two weeks ago she asked to give a testimony during our presentations at a Youth for Christ rally in Minnesota. She related how one year before she was losing her faith in God because of all the...

Planning from the homestead

Posted on Nov 10, 2010 in Stepaneks from the Front | 0 comments

We are home for the holidays and busy scheduling our creation tours for next year.  I am planning to travel again to India in January and February.   Then in March and April, we will be in Iowa and Illinois.  I do have a few dates I need to fill. If you are reading this blog and know of some churches or organizations that would benefit from a creation seminar, please call the AOI office or myself at 970-263-4196.  The most difficult part of my job is planning a speaking...

Released From the Burden of Evolution!

Posted on Nov 5, 2010 in Nuttings from the Front | 0 comments

“I’ve been released from the burden of evolution!” This was told to Mary Jo & I by a college student from China while we were speaking recently at the University of Minnesota. She said the release came after our programs we gave one year ago at the University. I can’t think of a better way to put it. It hit the nail right on the head! Evolution is indeed a big burden. It keeps young and old alike from responding to the Gospel or from growing heavenward in their faith...

Fertile Soil

We have a Missions Banquet coming up this next week at the church my wife and I attend. We participated in this meeting last year where we were asked to speak about what we do in our ministry with AOI.  This year they asked that all the missionaries share a specific story about a person that they were able to minister to … and we are to do this in 5 minutes! Ouch! What a challenge to keep it to that short of a time period. All of the AOI speakers minister to thousands of...

Skeptics Abound

Posted on Oct 28, 2010 in Nuttings from the Front | 0 comments

Teaching about creation at universities is always “interesting” – and often challenging. It’s refreshing when honest seekers come to hear an alternative to evolution. However, sometimes these seekers seem to be few and far between (or maybe they are just not as “vocal” as the skeptics who come simply to debate). Somehow it seems to be a badge of “intellectualism” to doubt, mock, and blaspheme the God of the Bible. Sadly, this “intellectualism” is really just pride which...
