J Harlen Bretz first started studying the Pacific Northwest in 1922. In 1923, he developed a flood model for the cause of the geological formations in that area.
“Bretz was openly and vigorously ridiculed for presenting such a ludicrous notion as a flood model for the scablands since this region had obviously been carved out over millions of years by uniformitarian processes.” (http://www.detectingdesign.com/harlenbretz.html)
“Before a theory that requires a seemingly impossible quantity of water is accepted, every effort should be made to account for the existing features without employing so violent an assumption.” (O.E. Meinzer, U.S. Geological Survey, 1927, on a sign post at the museum of Dry Falls, WA)
It was not until 1965 that his theory was validated!!! 42 years later!!! Secular scientists all now accept the Missoula Flood (an Ice Age Flood – not the Worldwide Flood) as the cause of many features in the Washington landscape.
Another plaque in the pacific northwest honors J Harlen Bretz in saying: “who patiently taught us that catastrophic floods may sometimes play a role in nature’s unfolding drama” And Bretz said “ideas without precedent are generally looked upon with disfavor and men are shocked if their conceptions of an orderly world are challenged.”
Your Worldview affects the way you view the evidence and what conclusions you will accept!
