A Note of Thanksgiving

Posted on Dec 16, 2010 in Stepaneks from the Front | 0 comments

Notes like the one below are a great encouragement as we prepare for 2011. “Hi, Everyone!      Thank you for your ministry!  My oldest son, who is 15, had been taking Marine Biology and Oceanography at the local community college.  He’s had the same professor for both classes.  This teacher is hard core evolution in thought.  My son said he was thankful and glad that he got to hear your seminars, because he said if he hadn’t, he would have easily gone to the side of...

Creation Ministries – Making an Impact

Recently I was in the doctor’s office getting some stitches in a couple of my fingers as a result of an accident in the workshop. As the doctor, still in residency, was stitching me up, I began to ask him about his education, where he was from, etc. … just getting to know him. After a short time, he asked what I did for a living. Since I was dressed in old patched insulated coveralls (covered with grease, sawdust, and fresh blood), and beat-up work boots (with grease...

Granddaughter’s Dedication

Posted on Dec 7, 2010 in Johnsons from the Front | 0 comments

This past Sunday, my youngest grandchild was dedicated to the Lord at her parent’s church. This dedication really had not so much to do with our granddaughter; rather it was a time of celebration … an opportunity and a privilege for the parents, family, and church family to commit to do something, not just for the children, but for the parents as well. The parents (and grandparents!) were challenged to make a commitment: To lifting up their children/grandchildren in...

Giving and Receiving

To truly give thanks requires acknowledgment of need, a heart of humility, and an appreciation for the giver. Think about it! It’s hard to give thanks for things for which you see no need. It’s also hard for a prideful, self-sufficient person to recognize or accept a gift. Finally, it’s hard to give thanks if you care nothing for the heart of the giver. Think about some of the gifts you have received in times past – that shirt or blouse that didn’t fit, or the fragrance you...

Attitude of Gratitude This Thanksgiving

Posted on Nov 24, 2010 in Johnsons from the Front | 0 comments

God led me to a book called “Lord, Change My Attitude Before It Is Too Late” by James MacDonald (if you can get past your attitude and read the book, it is great!). Much of this blog came from that book. You will not read a blog from me very often because the computer and I have agreed to hate each other … in fact the Lord had to change my computer attitude as I wrote this, because I was screaming at the machine for not doing what I wanted it to do! I am grateful for the...

Grandparenting!

Posted on Nov 19, 2010 in Johnsons from the Front | 0 comments

One of the joys of being home between traveling ministry events is being able to spend time with our families. We are very fortunate – both of our daughters and their families live in the Grand Junction area, so we get lots of grandkid time. My wife loves to not only babysit the grandkids, but she also gets her hand into being able to homeschool them on a regular basis. Actually, she is so attached to her grandkids that it seems to be getting harder and harder to get her...

Answered Prayer!

This past Sunday, I recieved the blessing of being in attendance at my oldest grandson’s baptism. He had put his faith and trust in Jesus earlier this year on Good Friday. We had taken him and his brother to an exhibit of Jesus’ crucifixion at a nearby church. There were several stations set up to show different aspects of the crucifixion, ending with a cross. Around the cross had been placed many scraps of paper upon which people could write their sins, and...

Released From the Burden of Evolution!

Posted on Nov 5, 2010 in Nuttings from the Front | 0 comments

“I’ve been released from the burden of evolution!” This was told to Mary Jo & I by a college student from China while we were speaking recently at the University of Minnesota. She said the release came after our programs we gave one year ago at the University. I can’t think of a better way to put it. It hit the nail right on the head! Evolution is indeed a big burden. It keeps young and old alike from responding to the Gospel or from growing heavenward in their faith...

Fertile Soil

We have a Missions Banquet coming up this next week at the church my wife and I attend. We participated in this meeting last year where we were asked to speak about what we do in our ministry with AOI.  This year they asked that all the missionaries share a specific story about a person that they were able to minister to … and we are to do this in 5 minutes! Ouch! What a challenge to keep it to that short of a time period. All of the AOI speakers minister to thousands of...

A True Servant of God

This past week a very dear friend passed away to be with the Lord. I first met this Godly man (ER) when I was still an atheist. At that time, I was moonlighting to supplement our income in a troubled economy. I was cleaning a church of all things! There I met ER. Every year he would voluntarily spend hours and hours stripping the old wax from the gymnasium floor, and then reapply a fresh new coat of wax. It was hard work, which he did without a grumble … he even did it with...

God’s Provision

Posted on Oct 29, 2010 in Johnsons from the Front | 0 comments

Since joining Alpha Omega Institute fulltime in January of 1994 we have seen God’s provision in so many ways … I could probably write a book on the gracious methods by which He has taken care of us. Let me share just a few of His provisions in the area of transportation; In California, a man approached us about the noise our truck was making. Smilingly he said, “It sure sounds like a diesel.” I assured him it was a gasoline engine; it was just in need of a...

Thank You for sending Us!

Posted on Oct 21, 2010 in Stepaneks from the Front | 0 comments

We are returning from a month of speaking in WY, NE, and SD.  It has been a fruitful time of teaching and fellowship.  While we were at Frontier School of the Bible in WY, we had the privilege of enjoying an Austrian breakfast at the home of Harald and Helga.  They had come to the U.S. several years ago in order to thank Christians for sending missionaries to their country, which resulted in their salvation.  Their hearts were filled with gratitude.  While here, they heard...
