Consider this statement by Gregory Laughlin, an astrophysicist and planet hunter at the University of California, Santa Cruz:
“From our anthropocentric viewpoint, we naturally separate ourselves from the planet that we live on, but if one adopts the point of view of an external observer, it is the ‘planet’ (taken as a whole) that has done these remarkable things.”
Notice how his worldview affects his conclusions. No matter who you are or what you do, philosophy and personal worldviews will inevitably come into play, even when interpreting data. How does your worldview affect your everyday life?
