Some Secular Paleontologists “concluded that sauropods possessed a set of seven unique characteristics that facilitated an extremely long neck:
- They had sufficient body size to support a long neck,
- They had skeletal stability through a quadrupedal stance,
- they all had small heads that were easily supported by the neck,
- they all had ten or more neck vertebrae,
- they had elongated vertebrae,
- they may have had an air-sac breathing system, and
- they had vertebrae designed with “pneumaticity,” that is, many holes to lessen the overall weight of the neck and make it easier to hold up in the air.”
(As for number 7, it is estimated that the vertebrae might have been as light as styrofoam (see here: https://youtu.be/mEJENaCgq70?t=287)
