Data in Your DNA!

Scientists can now build practically any DNA sequence that they want which is allowing us to use it as a storage device. One research team has engineered DNA strands to store the information for an operating system, text, images, and a movie and they were able to successfully retrieve it. This technology could make huge strides in progress – think about it as they put it – “all your data in a drop of DNA.”

Let’s not forget, though, that this is clearly the work of a designer as these writers put it:

“Back to DNA – The key to understanding its usefulness is its stored sequence. Random nucleotides do nothing. They don’t convey information, they don’t walk, and they don’t form electrical switches. Only by intelligently designing algorithms to carefully control the encoding and decoding of the sequence were these engineers able to accomplish what they did.”
