Engaging the Culture: Reaching College Students (People) with Evidence and the Gospel!!

Why is this important??

If there is a Heaven and Hell, then it is more important than anything else that happens here on Earth.

22 Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23 Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. 24 And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. 25 Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, 26 and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.      ~2 Tim 2:22-26

Follow These Directions: Find a local area that you can approach people in public, respectfully and safely, about questions of ultimate importance, or set up interactions for students in local schools and colleges. Students should work either in pairs or groups of three for safety concerns and encouragement. Use this survey to record responses, as well as getting into some very important worldview conversations with Christians and non-Christians.  Use these surveys after the conversation to debrief as well. (These questions have been adapted from similar questions used by Stand to Reason (www.str.org))

Learn to question, Jesus questioned, what do you mean by that? How did you come to that conclusion?,

-questions dignify others,

-questions take the stress off of you and puts the burden of proof on them,

-don’t always answer or fight – but question their beliefs – kindly,

Remember to use these questions to clarify what people mean (and don’t let them off the hook with a one-liner response).

1. What do you mean by that?

-“Geology, specifically Radiometric Dating, has proven that the Earth is billions of years old.”

“I need to learn more before I can make a decision.”

You are without excuse!

As it says in Rom 1:19-26:

19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
